System requirements
- System
- Windows 10 (version 1809 or newer) or Windows 11, 64-bit.
- Disk space
- About 294 MB for the installer, a little more once installed. Local AI is optional and needs roughly 2–20 GB more for models, depending on your graphics card; speech recognition on NVIDIA cards downloads about 1.5 GB of CUDA libraries once.
- Graphics card
- Any. An NVIDIA card makes local speech recognition fast; without one, use the processor (slow) or a paid AI service.
- Rights
- No administrator rights: Cosmas installs for your Windows user only.
- Internet
- For sign-in, sync, updates and downloading AI models. Your catalogue works offline.
Install
Five steps, about two minutes.
Download
Get the installer from the button above or from the GitHub releases. Only download it from these two places.
Run it
The installer isn’t code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen may say “Windows protected your PC”. Click More info, then Run anyway.
Install
Choose the language, tick whether you want a desktop shortcut and click Install. Windows won’t ask for administrator rights.
First run
Cosmas finds your Medal recordings on its own; add OBS, ShadowPlay or other folders in Settings. When you first transcribe, choose where AI runs.
Sign in with Discord
To sync with the web: Settings → Web chronicle → Sign in with Discord. Your browser opens, you click Allow, and that’s it.
What the installer does
Program
Installs to
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\Kronikarfor your user only, with a Start menu shortcut and an optional desktop one.Your data
Catalogue, thumbnails, attachments, transcripts and models live in
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Kronikar. Your videos stay where they are.Old name
The folders keep the app’s former name, Kronikář, so updates over older installs keep working.
Update
Cosmas checks for new versions and offers to download and install them; the download is verified against its SHA-256 before it runs. Or download the new installer here and run it. It replaces the program, keeps your data, and closes Cosmas first if it is running.
Uninstall
Windows Settings → Apps → Installed apps → Cosmas → Uninstall. At the end it asks whether to delete your catalogue too; the answer is No unless you choose Yes. Your video files are never deleted.
No Windows PC?
The web version runs in any modern browser. It’s an early alpha without the heavy desktop features, but your chronicle is the same.
